We need Volunteers (No experience necessary - all Sr. High's and Adults welcome).

WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO??

Hail, Rain, and a Tornado caused damage to about 70 RV's in Hudson Bend, ,Texas (A suburb of Austin)and Tornado damage to Homes in the Littig area east of Austin on Good Friday, March 25, 2005!

Our mission is to join Central Texas Long Term Recovery Organization in partnership with governmental agencies, congregations, independent volunteers, ecumenical and interfaith organizations to assist the storm victims in the repair of their RV's and homes. Repairs will include getting on the roofs of the RV's in the Hudson Bend Area. If we get enough Volunteers we might also send a few teams to Littig to repair/replace a metal roof, and some siding on homes there. We will leave Shepherd of the Hills Parking Lot at 6:30 August 20, 2005, so we can caravan to the work sites.

Please Leave your Home Church in time to arrive at the Church by 6:30 AM. We will have a long day ahead of us!

Where will we be working?

We will be working all over the Armadillo and Hudson Bend RV Parks at the corner of Beacon and Hudson Bend, just west of 620 North.

Who is going so far?

A group from Mission Presbytery - Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church - Austin SHPC lead by Steve Pearson, Dan Mudgett, and Billy Baschnagel They will probably be joined by a a teams from the CTXLTDO (Cental Texas Long Term Disaster Organization) such as SAR - Team 8 (Search & Rescue - Team 8) from Austin, a CERT Team (Gotta find out what that stands for) from the City of Austin, A team from ARC (American Red Cross)who will provide snacks and Lunch (Compliments of Red Cross and Second Harvest), and Travis County Sheriff's Department - West Command, plus other volunteers.

Bring what you can, such as old work clothes, gloves, dust mask, screwdrivers, and utility knives. We will have to get on the roofs of the RV's. Put your name on your things. We will have water, ice, and a first aid kit. Also, if you have them, please bring 8' step ladders.

DONATIONS PERMITTING
We will have the necessary supplies at the work sites.

BTW, we do need to replace one RV trailer and also replace a convertible top - So if anyone can help us there, let me know! Please let me know if you can donate any supplies as soon as possible!
