We have approx. 10 volunteers from Mission Presbytery Chuches so far. Calling all sources for an additional 30 more volunteers ( 8-10 should have roofing experience). Westminster Pres. has space to house 40 volunteers(on floors, cots, sleeping bags etc). There are restroom and cooking facilities (some of the members of the church have even offered to provide meals). There are no shower facilities however. David and Sabelyn Pussman are researching motel availability and other possibilities for showering etc. Even though the roof eves are 9 to 12 feet off the ground, no one should attempt this type of work if afraid of heights. Work areas will be accessed by ladders.

WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO??

Hurricane Rita caused widespread damage to Texas and Louisiana on September 24, 2005, causing extensive damage around Sulphur, La including the Sulphur Westminister Presbyterian Church. Our Mission is to replace the roof over the less steep roofs on the church and possibly some repairs to the home of Pastors David and Sabelyn Pussman. Those in the Austin area will meet at the Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church Parking Lot at 9:00 A.M. Wednesday February 15, 2006, so we can caravan to the work sites. Its about a 6-7 hour drive. If you cannot come Wednesday, you can come Thursday, Friday and/or Saturday returning Sunday.

Where will we be working?

The first project is to replace a leaking roof on the Westminister Church. We may also replace sheetrock where needed. We may also do some roof repairs and sheetrock repairs to the Pussman's home.

For those coming in Thursday, Friday, or Saturday, please meet at the Westminister Presbyterian Church at 301 Center Circle, Sulphur, La. We will meet there each morning at 8:00 A.M. to start work. Those of us on the advance party will survey the work to be done and make sure all materials are in place for the arrival of the main groups.

We will finish up on Sunday the 19th and return to our home Churches.

Please Leave your Home Church in time to arrive at the Church by 8:00 AM February 16, 2006 and each morning thereafter - we will have long days ahead of us!
